Take Furry Family Members on a Great Vacation with The AAA PetBook
Release of new edition marks official open of next AAA PetBook Photo Contest
NEWS from AAA Oklahoma, June 10 – If you’re among the increasing number of Americans who bring Fido and Fluffy with them on vacation, Traveling with Your Pet: The AAA PetBook makes for a valuable traveling companion. The newly-released 12th edition contains information on pet-friendly lodgings, recreational opportunities and advice on planning and safety. The book also features inspiring and amusing entries from the previous AAA PetBook Photo Contest, sponsored by Best Western.
Traveling with Your Pet: The AAA PetBook includes more than 13,000 pet-friendly, AAA Approved and Diamond Rated lodgings in the United States and Canada. The listings include fees, permitted pet sizes and conditions of stay for properties at every AAA diamond rating level, including — for pampered pets — AAA Five Diamond hotels.
“With careful consideration and foresight, including your pet in your travels can make for a memorable trip,” said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “But poor planning can lead to endless frustration.”
AAA is also announcing the start of its popular PetBook Photo Contest. This vacation, be sure your plans include capturing some photos of your pet enjoying its travels. Each year, two entries from the AAA PetBook Photo Contest are selected to appear on a cover of the next edition of The AAA PetBook. The “Best in Travel” winner will also receive $300, pet treats, five copies of the book and a $150 Best Western Travel Card, usable worldwide. The second-place winner will receive $150, pet treats and two copies of the book. Photos and completed forms must be received by Nov. 30, 2010. Check The AAA PetBook for details, or access official contest rules, an entry form and the contest photo gallery at AAA.com/PetBook.
“With more than 1,900 pet-friendly properties in North America, Best Western knows pets are very much a part of our guests’ families. As such, we want to welcome pets and their owners to our pet-friendly properties,” said Dorothy Dowling, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Best Western. “We are proud to help travelers get this information through an exceptional resource like The AAA PetBook.”
For adventurous travelers, The AAA PetBook lists more than 400 AAA Approved pet-friendly campgrounds. Readers will find useful tips for preparing four-legged travelers for the road and information about pet etiquette, insurance and dog park locations.
Traveling with Your Pet: The AAA PetBook is available at AAA Oklahoma’s eleven full-service offices statewide, online at bn.com, and at fine bookstores. The cover price is $17.95; however, members may purchase it at AAA Oklahoma offices for $11.95, plus tax.
