NEW AAA OPERATIONS CENTER BREAKS GROUND
AAA center creating 825 new jobs to serve members
Oklahoma City, August 21 – AAA is pleased to announce the groundbreaking today for a new AAA Operations Center that will provide AAA members in several states with membership, travel, and insurance benefits and services.
Oklahoma City was chosen as the site for this facility in May after a multi-state search. Approximately 825 employees will be hired for the new 147,000 square foot center, which is scheduled for completion in late 2009.
“When we began our nationwide search, we sought a welcoming community with a skilled workforce and vital economy. We found all that and more in Oklahoma City,” said Paula Downey, president of AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah.
The new three-story AAA Operations Center at 3100 Quail Springs Parkway is part of a collaborative effort involving AAA clubs across the country.
“It’s a great example of the strength of our workforce and economy, which, combined with the low cost of doing business and the wonderful quality of life, make Oklahoma City the smart choice for companies looking to grow and succeed in today’s increasingly competitive business environment,” said Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett.
“This is truly a red letter day,” said Neal Krueger, president and CEO of AAA Oklahoma, “not only for Oklahoma City and the state, but for our AAA members who will benefit from a more cost-effective, more efficient, and more effective delivery system for AAA services and benefits.”
AAA has contracted with Koll Development Company (KDC), to design and develop the center. The architecture will feature elements of KDC’s successful Intellicenter program – branded, high-performance green office buildings featuring under-floor air distribution and raised access flooring. The building has been designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which promotes buildings that are environmentally responsible and healthful places to work.
“While evaluating AAA’s goals early in the process, we knew instantly that a KDC Intellicenter-type building would best meet their needs from an environmental, functional, and business growth standpoint,” said Steve Van Amburgh, CEO of KDC. “Once this operations center is open, I feel certain that the employees will benefit from one of the most efficient and green work spaces available today. I truly believe that they will love their new building."
