AAA’s Spring Break Hot Spots
NEWS from AAA Oklahoma, Feb. 25 – With Spring Break just a couple of weeks away across much of the state, many Oklahomans are searching for quick, easy, inexpensive getaways.
According to AAA Oklahoma Travel, these are the hot spots for Spring Break:
- Disney. AAA Travel counselors report that whether they’re driving or flying, Oklahomans are quite interested anything Disney: Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Disney Cruises.
- Branson. The area has expanded its menu of offerings to appeal to all ages. Plus, it’s close.
- San Antonio. The melding of cultures in this south Texas city continues to attract visitors from many states. Sea World is also a draw.
- Padre Island. Oklahoma’s closest beach experience offers lots to do.
- Cruises. As of Feb. 25, last-minute berths were still available on cruises leaving during Spring Break weeks. Carnival’s Fantasy departs New Orleans for five-night Caribbean cruises. On Feb. 25, inside cabins were $729 per person for the March 16 sailing and $499 for the March 21 cruise. Royal Caribbean’s ship Voyager of the Seas leaves for seven-night Caribbean cruises out of Galveston. On Feb. 25, inside cabins were $999 per person for the March 15 cruise and $569 for the March 22 sailing.
- Oklahoma. AAA Travel counselors report a lot of interest in the Sooner state, both from families looking for a close-by getaway and from Oklahomans who have friends and family coming to the state to visit. Tulsa and Oklahoma City have each developed exciting, new tourist-friendly attractions. Plus, Oklahoma’s state parks, lakes and rural areas offer top-notch vacation opportunities.
AAA cautions travelers who may be thinking of flying to their destinations to
book early. Airlines are scheduling eight percent fewer seats this year compared to last year on domestic as well as international flights. For example, flights to Cancun for Spring Break are almost non-existent right now.
