Community Relations Specialist

Responsibilities:   

The Community Relations Specialist coordinates local and regional community relations and traffic safety programs; represents AAA Oklahoma/South Dakota by participating in club projects, community projects, responds to media requests and assists with article submissions to various media outlets.

Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of AAA membership benefits; familiarity with products and resources of other AAA departments

  • Excellent writing skills

  • In depth knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, proper punctuation, rules of composition, and grammar

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent interview, presentation and public speaking skills

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to adhere to strict deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to gain information from individuals by asking appropriate questions

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, maintain confidentiality, and work well with others

  • Proficient with Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

  • Ability to navigate the Internet using Microsoft Internet Explorer

--Previous experience working with the media preferred

--Knowledge of AAA’s heritage and active role in the community helpful

--Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required

--Some statewide and regional travel within Oklahoma required

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or related field from an accredited college or university and 6 to 12 months related experience/training, or equivalent combination of work experience/education.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
